In a message to Bob at Creative Plush, I happened to mention that El and I are both teachers. I had recently shared with a group of my GT students that I was making plush toys of a literary character (no, my middle school students had not heard of Erik yet) and that it would be nice to be able to show them how they were being created. A few days later I received these pictures, which I am posting here for you to enjoy.

They don't look quite the same without the stuffing, but here you can see 250 Erik faces being created, complete with "a few long dark locks of hair" as Leroux described.
It's amazing to see how much work goes into such a project. Here are the long dark locks of hair that go behind Erik's ears.
The head is apparently multiple pieces.
Here the face is shown with other pieces of fabric which make up the head, as well as the locks of hair from the side.
The upper body of Erik, complete with his white shirt and red waistcoat.
I believe this is Erik's upper body from the back, though I'm not entirely certain.
Each upper body is paired up with a head before stuffing, apparently.
I have no idea what is going on here. Perhaps it is a template for making the masks? No, for the mask has evil angry eyes. This could be the inside of the face or a template for making the head.
Eriks feet! (Well, legs and feet.) They look purple here, but I've been assured the colors all match the sample that we were shown previously.
Okay... Bonus points to anyone who can figure out exactly what this part is.
