Our primary purpose is to provide a keepsake item for fans of Gaston Leroux's novel, so we would love to receive pictures of Erik with his adoring fans. Both the originator of the Erik plush project and the designer who drew the plans to make Erik a reality are teachers, and we hope this project will be educational as well as enjoyable. Although we are both teachers of English (literature and lingustics, respectively) anyone familiar with the story can easily see how Phantom of the Opera promotes music, art, culture, tolerance, and so much more. We have found that interest in classic novels such as Phantom of the Opera promotes knowledge of history, geography, foreign languages and much more.
So far, arrangements have been made for Eriks to travel within the United States to California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington. He will also journey outside the US to Austria, Austrailia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. (We hear that Erik is especially excited to be visiting Sweden, where Christine Daaé was born, but he's a little nervous about New York due to Phantom of Manhattan and Love Never Dies.)
Please help us make this project still more educational. When you receive your Erik, we ask that you consider photographing yourself with him in an historic location in your geographical area. If you are under 18 or if you simply prefer not to put your picture on the Internet, feel free to send a picture of just Erik in a famous place in your area. We'll know that you were there with him, even if you do not appear in the photograph.
